Everything you need to know about Zip by Spree Hotels menu system
Order food to be delivered directly to your hotel room.

Starters: Veg & Non-Veg appetizers
Seafood: Fresh fish and prawns
Meat: Chicken, beef, and pork dishes
Beverages: Whiskey, vodka, beer, wine, cocktails
Access: /admin/restaurant (Login Required)
Adding Menu Items
Step 1:
Click the + Add New Item buttonStep 2:
Fill in the details:- • Name: Item name (e.g., "Butter Chicken")
- • Description: Brief description of the dish
- • Category: Select from dropdown (Starters, Main Course, etc.)
- • Prices: Set prices for AC, Non-AC, and Takeaway
- • Diet Type: Select Veg or Non-Veg
- • Availability: Check to make item visible
Step 3:
Click Save to add the item
Editing Menu Items
Step 1:
Find the item you want to editStep 2:
Click the Edit button on the item cardStep 3:
Update any field (name, price, description, etc.)Step 4:
Click Update to save changes
Hide / Show Menu Items
Control item visibility without deleting them (useful for out-of-stock items)
To Hide:
- • Click Edit on the item
- • Uncheck the "Available" checkbox
- • Click Update
- • Item will have indicator
To Show:
- • Click Edit on the hidden item
- • Check the "Available" checkbox
- • Click Update
- • Item will now appear in customer menus
Note: Hidden items are not visible to customers but remain in your database.
Removing Menu Items
Step 1:
Find the item to removeStep 2:
Click the Delete buttonStep 3:
Confirm deletion in the popup
Warning: Deleted items are permanently removed. Consider hiding items instead if they might return.
Managing Categories
Restaurant categories (all available in dropdown when adding/editing items):
Access: /admin/bar (Login Required)
Adding Bar Items
Step 1:
Click + Add New ItemStep 2:
Fill in the details:- • Name: Item name (e.g., "Chicken 65")
- • Description: Brief description
- • Category: Select category (Starters, Seafood, Meat, or beverage type)
- • Price: Single price for bar items
- • Diet Type: Veg or Non-Veg
- • Availability: Check to make visible
Step 3:
Click Save
Note: Bar items have the same price for dine-in and takeaway.
Editing Bar Items
Same process as restaurant items:
- • Click Edit on the item
- • Update any field
- • Click Update to save
Hide / Show Bar Items
Works exactly like restaurant items - uncheck "Available" to hide, check to show.
Tip: Hide items when temporarily out of stock (e.g., specific whiskey brand).
Bar Categories
Available categories for bar items:
Beverage Categories:
✅ Do's
- • Hide items instead of deleting when temporarily unavailable
- • Keep descriptions short and appetizing (1-2 lines)
- • Update prices during off-peak hours
- • Test menu changes before peak hours
- • Use proper categories for easy customer browsing
- • Mark diet types correctly (Veg/Non-Veg)
❌ Don'ts
- • Don't delete items that might return (use hide instead)
- • Don't leave price fields empty
- • Don't use ALL CAPS in item names
- • Don't forget to save changes after editing
- • Don't make bulk changes during peak dining hours
🔍 Quick Checks
Before leaving admin panel:
- • All prices are set correctly
- • Available items are marked as available
- • Descriptions are complete and accurate
- • Categories are properly assigned
- • Diet types are correctly marked
